Empowered Care for Your Family’s Journey

Discover our commitment to ethical midwifery care. We support families every step of the way during the childbearing year.

Our Way

We do things… differently…

Your prenatal visits are 45 minutes to an hour long. In addition to monitoring your vital signs, nutrition, and baby’s heart rate and growth, we talk about your life events, fears, hopes, and expectations. We listen to your wishes, share your vision for your birth, and get to know you as a person. The foundation of midwifery care is the client-midwife relationship, which is based on mutual respect and trust.

Your desires for your baby’s birth are important to us. We will guide you with our knowledge and experience and lead you to evidence-based research to make the best choices for you and your family. We strongly encourage childbirth preparation classes for all first-time parents or families planning out-of-hospital births for the first time. Education is key to empowerment!

After business “hours”, a midwife is never more than a phone call or text away, in the event of emergencies or urgent issues. We are on-call on days, nights, weekends, and even holidays for any urgent situations that may arise.

Every birth is a unique journey, and at Westover Hills, we celebrate and support each family’s story with compassion and expertise.

Empowerment First

When the BIG day (or night) comes…

Once active labor is established (or you have been admitted for care), we encourage you to eat, drink, and stay active or rest if indicated. You get to choose who is present at your birth. You have many laboring options in our beautiful, comfortable birth suites.

Finally, the moment you have waited for arrives…

Baby never leaves your sight. Once you are ready, your baby has the first comprehensive, head-to-toe newborn exam with weight, measurements, and keepsake footprints.

You and the baby are both seen 24 to 48 hours after your birth and two to three more times during the first six weeks postpartum. The baby is examined, weighed, and measured. The newborn screenings are performed. Your questions are answered, concerns are addressed, and your mind is put at ease. Your health and smooth recovery are our priority. We provide postpartum and newborn/well-baby care and support for six weeks.
