What Our Clients Are Saying
Riley Clark
Shout-out to Westover Hills Birth Center. Three years ago, I transferred into Robin’s care very late in pregnancy due to my daughter being persistently breech and Robin being one of the most experienced providers in the state with natural breech delivery. She is very attentive to detail and took excellent care of me. My daughter had some trouble breathing at the start, which was scary for me, but Robin didn’t skip a beat, and she resuscitated her for a minute until she started to cry on her own. She never seemed flustered for a moment, commenting later that it was a “textbook breech delivery”.Â
Knowing Robin was well equipped to handle emergency situations, I returned from overseas to give birth here again, as our country’s medical care isn’t so great. It gave me a lot of peace knowing I was in good hands. Though my baby was measuring large on ultrasounds, she reassured me not to worry. Birth went incredibly smoothly. I dare even say it was an “easy” birth, despite my baby being 10lb 1 oz. Robin and Alisa cared for me so well, and I once again went home grateful to be under the care of such capable and experienced women.

From the prenatal visits to the post- delivery care, Robin and her team provided the most excellent care, my family 110% recommend them for any moms, first time moms or tenth time moms, moms who want natural birth experiences, moms who consider a birthing center for any reason.
At prenatal visits, she was always down to earth while being a professional, making me feel so comfortable to be totally honest about my needs, wants, and how things were going.
Despite being an RN- a nurse myself, she didn’t assume anything and still took time to educate me and provide me with lots of take home education to reference. Robin has an unwavering calm and confidence that grounded me through every process. Despite her expertise and multitude of experience, she made it very clear her limitations & explained well the different potential scenarios that could require additional support beyond her clinic at birth or after. It was clear that baby & mom’s safety is her top priority. My support people were encouraged to come & get education, too. She listened & provided care specific to ME. I never felt like another appointment or patient on the roster, or a hosting body for the baby, they made me feel important. Also, Robin cares about what you want. Water birth, want dad to help, no doula, etc. She informed me typical pros & cons to each choice, but never made me feel judged.
For my birth experience, her and her team worked effortlessly to reassure me and help me build confidence back into myself when I began to panic through the stronger contractions. They made me feel comfortable to do whatever strange things I had to do to cope (noises, hand flapping, lol!)
I clung to their words and advice on positioning and breathing & it truly helped a ton to make it to the beautiful end when I was finally allowed to push! Baby needed some respiratory support and had the cord wrapped around his neck but they worked quickly to get him back safe & pink.
Robin got ahold of me right away when she received results late at night that my baby tested positive on a newborn screen for Cystic Fibrosis disease.
She was just as devastated and provided support through my grief, kept up- to-date on his specialist team’s treatments and provided her own assessments. She referred me to the area’s top Cystic Fibrosis care team at University Health who are exceptional and see him now.
She also referred me to a sweet older Dr. Offutt of New Braunfels Pediatric Dentistry to take care of his tongue tie.
It seems Westover Hills keeps only the absolute best of contacts for referring her patients to!!!
I didn’t tear hardly, not enough for even a stitch, thankfully. There are still several helpful teachings & things for peri care, etc she provides to keep your body’s healing on track, and so far so good at week 4! I am relieved that he passed his newborn hearing screen with her, my baby’s social security card got sent to me in the mail, so I was able to follow her instructions to order the birth certificate. I have the birth record until then. I also have his official shot record from her, and a note from each visit to remind me of what we did and all his vitals and measurements. I also have patient portal that I’m able to quickly log into from my phone to see any results or messages from them. That’s been convenient since the first prenatal visit. What a difference from Dr. offices that just say, no news is good news! Then you would wonder what if you missed their call, etc. She updates you even if tests are all clear. My last visit is coming up and I’m actually sad because I enjoy visiting with them so much! Always felt more like family than a clinic. I think we shared a good laugh at every visit, and some tears. I don’t think I’ll be needing her services again, but I would come straight back if I were to be pregnant! It would be so hard to find another team to compare to them, so it wouldn’t make sense to even try.

I was referred by a doula to them because I wanted a low intervention birth and I didn’t find what I was looking for in hospital services. It was the best decision I had made, because Robin & Julie are very professional, with a lot of experience, friendly and supported me in every stage of the labor. It was a wonderful experience, exceeding my expectations. The center is nice, and the birth suites are very cozy, the perfect environment to feel comfortable during labor. I am a first time mom, so I had a lot of uncertainty about my newborn baby and they supported me in every moment. I always will remember the love with which Julie carried the baby when crying during the follow up appointments and all the good tips she provided me in this phase. Great place to have an unforgettable experience.

Best experience with these wonderful midwives. They were such a blessing to us throughout our journey. From the beginning of our pregnancy until the day of delivery, the amount of emotional and medical support we received was beyond amazing. Best decision we made in choosing Westover Hills Birth Center to assist us in delivering our blessing.
Vega’s Rules
Transferring care to Robin and Julie at WHBC was the best decision I could have made for me and my little one. If you do not want to see a different doctor at every appointment, wait forever for your appointments only to have your doctor spend 10-15 minutes with you, or have your options and the information provided to you limited, then you should seriously consider WHBC. I had such an amazing experience, despite having a scary rollercoaster last 3 weeks of my pregnancy. Robin truly cares about her patients and you feel like you’re joining a family instead of being just another patient. My husband was a bit worried because of some of the waivers we signed but if you read the ones you have to sign at the hospital (most people don’t) they are worse! The waivers are required, if you do research you’ll see most of the stuff is super uncommon and if you still have doubts, Robin is extremely knowledgeable and patient and is great at explaining everything. I cannot say enough good things about WHBC and can’t think of a single bad thing to say. I have zero complaints and if you knew me you would know that is a miracle.
Also, a perk of having your baby at the birth center, you and baby both have your appointments together after birth. Sounds silly but when you are not getting any sleep and have a baby attached to you around the clock, being able to be seen by the same person and the same place and time is so amazing. I recently had a friend that went to her follow up appointment after having a C-section and was turned away because she had her baby with her and the office was not allowing guests. Crazy and you will have none of that at WHBC. Robin will gladly hold and converse with your new tiny human while you are there. It’s more like a homecoming for the baby rather than a medical appointment (though they do a thorough job on all the medical stuff as well).
Lastly, if you think your pregnancy is in better hands with a doctor because of X reason: my January baby was a breech VBAC. She was born with her cord wrapped around her neck 3 times (Robin’s quick reaction unwrapping was beyond impressive). I have uterus didelphys which not many providers have any experience with. Robin handled it all like the amazing midwife she is and I know 100% I could not have been in better hands anywhere else.
Claudia Aguirre
If you’re looking for a successful VBAC – Robin definitely helps increase those chances! She is super knowledgeable, caring, informative and just an overall OG midwife! She keeps it REAL. Loved her!!!! If you’re thinking twice about it – don’t – this is your sign to make the appointment. The other midwife was very attentive and moved fast and swiftly at my birth – she was also pretty awesome and funny!! Steffi is the receptionist – super friendly and very welcoming!! Overall this was a very professional team!! Will definitely want to have more babies here because of them, they made my experience one I will cherish foreverrrr<3

We just had our baby there last week and I must say that they went over and beyond my expectations. We switched a few months ago and it was the best decision for us. Robin is experienced, kind, understanding and very professional. The birth center is so beautiful and clean.
It was a wonderful experience for me and my husband.

I delivered my 3rd baby here a week and a half ago. By far this was my best birthing experience (other 2 were at a hospital). I wanted to experience an unmedicated water birth in a place that would make me feel welcomed and cared for. I was lucky enough to find this place so close to home. Robin and Julie are very knowledgeable and I never felt rushed during appointments. You can tell they love what they do. I didn’t feel like “just another number” like I did when I gave birth at the hospital. There was a point during the delivery when I felt like I couldn’t push anymore but Robin, Julie and Jennifer (the photographer) were so encouraging I was able to gather enough strength to do it! We welcomed my son and my husband was able to “catch” him. It was truly an amazing experience, my only regret is that I didn’t do this with the other two kids! You’ll be in great hands if you choose these lovely ladies as your providers. The birth suites are beautiful and relaxing as well.

Got my VBA2C here and hands down to Robin and Julie, they are my angels who supported me all through my pregnancy and birth.

We are so incredibly thankful to have found Robin and Julie at Westover Hills Birth Center. They provided top notch care during our pregnancy, labor and postpartum. I can’t recommend this place enough for those seeking a natural, personalized and positive birth experience. We love our midwives!
Kim Wuenschel
These ladies are amazing!!! My only regret in meeting them is that I met them for my baby #4 and not baby #1. They really love and care, and they’re knowledgeable and have the perfect balance of being medically minded and natural mom friendly. Robin brings so much experience and wisdom, and yet still treated me like her only patient. I cannot say enough about how awesome my experience was and how grateful I am to have found these ladies!

Every woman wanting to experience natural unrestricted delivery, professional caring staff and amazing medical care. This is the birthing center to visit.

Robin and Julie are awesome!!! I will never forget how comforting and supportive they were throughout my pregnancy. After I had my son, they helped me so much, as a first time mom I had no idea what to expect… and they always seemed to know what to say and when to say it! Robin and Julie always answered and explained all our questions without hesitating. we are truly so thankful for being able to experience this with these ladies! I highly recommend them!!!!

I had the pleasure of meeting Julie and Robin during my last pregnancy. I had Julie as my midwife for some for my prenatal appointments, she was very knowledgeable on the latest research, I felt comfortable talking to her, and would recommend her as a midwife. I also had Robin as my midwife for some of my prenatal appointments as well as my birth. I enjoyed her gentle presence and was thankful for her experience, as well as her firm hand when I needed support. I appreciated her suggestions during my labor, and her answers to all my questions as well as her suggestions for natural supplements during my pregnancy. These ladies are so wonderful, it makes me want to have another baby just to have them as my support team!

When I first suggested to my husband that we do a home birth, he thought me insane. His experiences with his siblings were all hospital births, several with Cesarean sections. When he agreed to meet with midwives to get more information, Robin came highly recommended from several friends. After our “interview” with Robin, my husband turned to me and said, “Okay. She’s the midwife we are going with.” Robin was the first and only midwife we spoke to! She is amazing- educated, experienced, compassionate, and with a practical, straightforward attitude that we both found reassuring. Above all, she has an incredible love for midwifery and those families with whom she works. Any question or concern we had she addressed; my personal fears towards the end of pregnancy were soothed by her answers. When my pre-labor started- four days before Luke was born, and me completely unaware of what was happening- she and Jean came to my house at 10 pm to check and see what was happening. Robin told me what to look out for, and contacted me several times each of the following days to make sure I was all right. When my labor began early Sunday morning, I didn’t panic. I felt confident and excited; I knew I had the best support only a phone call away. I called Robin , and we hit a small snag. Another of Robin’s ladies was in labor, too! As it turned out, Joi, Janet, and Julie helped me to deliver Luke: 37.5 weeks, 8 lbs,and perfectly healthy! There were no complications for me or Luke, and I am glad that my first birth experience was positive. Although much of labor is blurred, my clearest memories are the phone calls from Robin. Even from another birth, she cared enough to check on me several times, and express her love and encouragement. She came the next night to do an exam and told us that she had never had two women go into labor at the same time. We were disappointed that Robin wasn’t at Luke’s birth, but we are grateful that she works with other wonderful midwives. When people ask us about the pregnancy, we rave about Robin. When we are ready to have more children, Robin will be who we call. We can feel the love she has for us, and it is returned! Thank you so much!

For my twin birth, I knew I wanted a different experience than my hospital birth with my first. I did lots of research, and decided to deliver my babies with Robin and Julie at a local birth center. Robin was always attentive, thorough, and kind during prenatal appointments and I knew I was in good hands with her! I always looked forward to our appointments and was so thankful for her detailed checks of the babies, even though my Twin B didn’t often like to cooperate! Robin always responded quickly when I had questions or concerns and reached out to her via text. In labor, Robin and Julie allowed me to settle into my own space, while suggesting comfort measures and positions that would help move the labor along. When I needed to transfer to the hospital to deliver my Twin B, they accompanied me and offered encouragement and reassurance. I am so grateful for their exceptional care!

Robin has been our midwife since 2012 with our first pregnancy. Then, happily, we were able to have Julie as well since 2014. We have had 3 beautiful home births, all different, and all went well. We love these ladies dearly, we trust both ladies with any concerns as I go through pregnancies, and post natal care. Robin is a wealth of knowledge on why our bodies act certain ways during pregnancy, what is normal, what is a cause for concern, and the best way to stay healthy. I’m amazed at her knowledge of home and herbal remedies, along with knowledge on pharmaceutical remedies too if needed. I also love their willingness to come to my house for all appointments, and to quickly and expertly answer any questions I have via text, call, or email. These ladies are extremely professional, and highly qualified. I took advantage of Julie’s placenta encapsulation with my 2nd and 3rd births, and I wish I had done it with the 1st as well, what a difference it makes! And last but not least, the price for their vast experience is lower than most deductibles. These two ladies have been such a blessing to our family!

What a blessing to have a midwife in the family! Robin is my mother-in-law! I have never been hospitalized (except for when I was born) and I have never had a broken bone or ever needed stitches. So, pregnancy was a scary thought for me because I knew I would have to been in a hospital with machines hooked up to me and shots…..so I thought! I was so excited to find out that I had other options! Robin was my midwife, of course. It was so convenient to have all of my prenatal appointments in the comfort of my own home and scheduled around my work schedule. We even got to hear the baby’s heartbeat for the first time on Christmas Eve! So special. I had a beautiful, intimate and peaceful home birth. Robin and her team were on point! Even with my baby coming 3 weeks early and before my husband and I had a chance to gather our birth supplies (Oops! I know better for next time!), they never missed a beat. I love my birth experience and I will be planning a second homebirth with Robin and her team for next time around (whenever that day may be). Thank you Robin for your care and expertise and for helping me have the birth that I wanted! Love you!

I had an amazing experience with Robin while delivering my first child at the birth center. I had a difficult labor but due to her knowledge, abilities, and wonderful guidance, I did not have to transfer to a hospital. I was able to have the birthing experience I had prayed and prepared for. Her love and care extended beyond the birth, but also throughout my pregnancy and postpartum care. She is like a member of our family now and receives the monthly pictures and updates of my son. I will be forever grateful to her.

Fourteen years ago, when I was preparing for my first home birth with baby #4, I met Robin through my primary midwife, Janet Dirmeyer. I have since had a total of 6 home births. Robin assisted with the births of my 5th and 7th babies, and was my primary midwife with my 9th baby. Words can’t express how grateful I am for all the midwives that have attended me throughout the years. Robin is willing to take the time to answer any questions and concerns you might have. Sensitive and responsive to a laboring mother’s needs, she is encouraging, yet firm should the need arise. Robin’s vast medical knowledge is the perfect compliment to her traditional midwifery training. During one of my births, the baby arrived before my midwives had time to unload the car. Easily switching to Plan B, Janet and Robin efficiently delivered my little guy. Even though his breathing wasn’t optimal, neither midwife showed any stress, keeping me calm until they decided that the baby needed to be transported to the hospital. I met Julie during the birth of baby #9. When Robin and Julie arrived, I was fully dilated but not contracting very often. The midwives unpacked, preparing for contingencies as best they could, encouraging me that we would get the job done. When my next random contraction arrived, Robin delivered my 10 lb little guy. I often describe births with midwives as giving birth with close friends. Robin and Julie are great friends to have and a fantastic team of midwives.

My husband and I are both so thankful that Robin was a part of our birthing team. She has a way of making you feel calm, peaceful, and safe. I always knew that I was in great hands with her, and trusted her completely. Right after my son was born was when I needed her & her magic the most. She was able to stitch up where I tore and share stories while still keeping me calm… and all while listening to the Backstreet Boys! Thank you, Robin, for sharing your gifts with us. We will always be grateful for you. ♡

I would definitely trust Robin with helping us deliver future babies. She is conscientious and diligent. In fact her diligence and intuition saved the life of a friend of mine. She is excellent and painless drawing labs and giving IVs. I feel so blessed that she helped deliver my baby girl!

As someone who has had 3 hospital births and 3 home births, I cannot recommend home births enough. And for birthing at home there are no better midwives than Robin and Julie. They are cool, calm and collected no matter what! I had an emergency appendectomy at 8 months and was worried about laboring with the stitches. When time came, our little boy didn’t want to come out. Even when he was born sunny-side up with the cord around his neck, Robin gently took care of that too. My husband and sister, who were there, both said it was such a peaceful, joyful birth, and I know it’s because of Robin and Julie. Thank you so much!!
The Knox Family
These midwives are amazing! I am a fellow health care provider and I would say that I am pretty particular with the providers I select. I also say that I do not take any of my health care decisions lightly. I came to meet Robin 28 weeks pregnant with my first child looking for how maternity care should be. I was disappointed with my MD provider who came with a delivery hospital with a high c section rate, which I wanted desperately to avoid. I was really, Really wanting a natural medicine free birth. I did all the research and decided to switch to my midwife Robin. I was very happy with my choice. HANDS down she made me feel more comfortable than any OBGYN relationship I have ever had, not to mention I felt much safer as a whole. My first Half of my pregnancy with the OBGYN I felt just like another number as dozens of patients were being shuffled through the practice at the same time. What a difference midwifery care made! She made me feel like I was a real person who cared about me and my family. With Robin’s help we navigated the last part of my pregnancy which included some preterm labor. My first birth (a water birth) to our baby boy was incredible to say the least, I was on a high for days. It was exactly how I wanted it to be. It was a natural choice when we found out that we were pregnant with our second to have Robin as our midwife. This adventure go round I also got to meet Julie Hatfield, her co-midwife helping her with births. I was impressed with Julie’s prior experience as a NICU nurse and, dare I say, felt even MORE comfortable with this birth than my first being that I had two gentle sets of very experienced hands ready to catch our baby girl. I had an uneventful pregnancy, thankfully and had my second birth with these two lovely ladies. I was impressed with how they both handled my delivery and postpartum care, both extremely attentive yet understanding of the space the laboring woman needs. Julie checked over our earth side baby girl with love and care, deftly moving as only one with experienced hands can, reassuring us that she was as perfect as she could be. My second birth felt like bringing my baby into the hands of a big loving family. I highly recommend these midwives. I can say with honesty that if God allows me another child it will be with these women, and I even if I had twins or breech I would feel extremely confident that I would be in the best of hands. With love – The Knox Family

Robin is more than a midwife. Those who know her and her practice call her “Oma.” That is because she brings a genuine love and support to her care, which envelops her patients and becomes the theme of all sessions. We looked forward to our visits with Oma, and together we enhanced diet and exercise routines, reviewed symptoms, and best of all tracked our Little Bear’s growth. As first time moms, we were of course nervous going into birth, but Oma’s quiet confidence, years of experience, and matter of fact guidance made achieving our birth plan possible. She helped me and my partner push out a healthy, more than 8 lbs boy, with no need for snips or stitches thanks Oma’s repertoire, including centuries of midwifery wisdom and techniques.

Deciding to have a home birth wasn’t a decision we took lightly. After meeting with Robin we knew that we were making the right one for our family. She took the time to answer all of our questions. None were brushed off, each explanation was concise and thoughtful. She was exactly what we needed for my fifth pregnancy. We had two hospital births and then two losses that were extremely hard on my body. I was full of self doubt. She gave me courage, love, and strength. Our third child was born at home into his Daddy’s waiting and nervous arms. My labor was so quick, Robin wasn’t able to make the actual birth. She was on the phone with us the whole time and arrived within minutes after our son’s birth. She was cool, calm, and collected. It was such an amazing experience that we decided to do it again a little over two years later. This time we had the pleasure of working with Julie too. She was a quintessential part of welcoming our fourth child. Even though this was another quick labor, I needed them and their expertise. They worked together like a well oiled machine. Very few words were needed Julie was right where Robin and I needed her to be. They helped welcome my two boys into our home with love and care. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

I am a well educated informed woman that works in the medical field as a geriatric nurse practitioner. When I got pregnant with my little Simone I started on the traditional route with an OB-GYN. I quickly realized long waits and little interaction was not for me. This was my time as a woman to experience this journey with a provider that was going to make me empowered with knowledge and an advocate for me and my baby. That’s when I met Robin. Robin is a true expert in her field. Her medical knowledge is that of an attending physician, her aurora is of a holistic provider with a no business attitude and never once did I feel unsafe or unsure with her as my midwife. I would not hesitate to give my highest recommendation to Robin. To any woman that is considering a natural childbirth with a midwife should have a sit down with Robin. I am so proud and blessed of my experience with Robin.

Translation: I am a childbirth educator and doula. I had my first 2 children by cesarean deliveries, the first in Mexico, for medical necessity and the second in the U.S. only on the basis of the previous cesarean. During my third pregnancy, I knew that if I had my baby in the hospital it would end in another cesarean. Of course I did not want that, because of my work and what I’ve learned, I wanted the best for myself, but especially for my baby. I also longed to experience a natural labor and normal birth because it seemed essential to pass on my experience and training to couples in my classes to better empathize with women who need labor support. Natural childbirth was super important to me. A very good friend who was my doula recommended Robin. She contacted me and since we met, she gave me the confidence, support and understood my situation and my plans. Like a pro, she checked my medical history and it was great to know that everything was fine, no problem. Prenatal care at home, I loved it – it was super comfortable for me. When the big day arrived, Robin was always on the lookout for us, so patiently, without pressure, always checking that my baby was okay; but what I remember most is when she spoke and looked directly in my eyes to give me the strength and courage to complete and go on to achieve what we both wanted. She trusted me more than I myself, and after that everything happened as it I knew would and it was amazing. Robin and her team were and are key in my life, in my professional achievement but especially in my transformation as a woman and as a mother, and enjoy to my victory, my baby. Thanks Robin, may you keep helping many women and babies, not only to achieve healthier outcomes but also to achieve so many dreams.
